Canon PowerShot A2000 IS Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

This camera misses out on an award because it takes too many steps back compared with the A720 IS. However, if a big screen is more important to you than manual controls and low-light performance, it's an excellent choice at an impressively low price.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot A2000 IS is geared towards amateurs who want excellent quality photos for minimal amount of micro management and, while it delivers this admirably, there are severe design issues around the controls that will need to be addressed in future models.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

I've been using A-series digicams since the introduction of the groundbreaking little A20, and the redesigned A2000 IS is substantially different in terms of looks and usability from its predecessors – clearly targeted toward casual photographers rather than photo enthusiasts. I suspect that many loyal A-series fans are going to be very disappointed, and that's too bad because the A2000 IS is a first rate general use digicam: easily pocketable, feature rich, relatively quick, and capable of producing near pro-quality images.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

As a camera, the Canon PowerShot A2000 IS is distinctly average. We got better results from the similarly priced Ricoh R10 and preferred its design too. That said, this is much better than your average point-and-shoot model and takes reasonably good shots in all but interior settings.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

Canon’s PowerShot A2000 IS is a good value compact with a surprisingly long zoom and effective stabilisation for the money. It’s easy to use, captures sharp, consumer-friendly images and powered by readily-available AA batteries, so you’ll rarely get caught short.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot A2000 IS camera may not be a perfect camera; we enjoyed working with it tremendously. All the functions are in a logical spot and the large monitor on the back makes it easy to identify with the subject. For the creative photographer it is a pity the manual settings have disappeared, since these made the PowerShot A cameras unique.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The new top of the Line "A" series from Canon, the Powershot A2000IS, is a fully loaded 10-Megapixel point and shoot. With Easy, Auto, Program and plenty of pre-set scene modes at your disposal, this camera is easy enough for anyone to pick it up and start shooting. It has good performance and quality while also being more versatile than many other entry level cameras via the 6x optical zoom lens with O.I.S. One thing to keep in mind is the absence of the optical view finder, something we have become accustomed to on the "A" series models.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Depending upon your level of experience, the new Canon Powershot A2000 IS will either be an attractive proposition or a disappointment. Beginners will love it - the A2000 is a camera that produces excellent images in good light, covers a large focal range for such a small camera thanks to the 6x zoom lens, and has a massive 3 inch LCD screen on the back that can be viewed from a wide angle. The wealth of different scene modes is accompanied by the ultimate point-and-shoot Easy mode, which really does make the A2000 suitable for all the family.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot A2000 IS is lean on features beyond its stabilized 6x zoom lens, but it takes great photos and is easy to use.
