Samsung UltraTOUCH Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Amazing picture quality and an above-average camera in a sturdy, well-designed package - but it's let down by its poor battery life.

The Tocco Ultra has a fairly strong range of features but it lacks Wi-Fi which pulls it down somewhat from the cutting edge. Overall it is good, but not great.

reghardware‘s review Edit

Combining touchscreen and slider design principles, the Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition adds some extra text-tapping usability to the touch format without bloating the device. It still manages to feel comfortable to handle, and pleasing to use. Its user interface isn’t as elegantly smooth and sophisticated as the iPhone’s benchmark set-up – and like most touch devices, some elements take a little getting used to.

We can't help but shake the feeling that, as kick-ass as this phone is, it could be much more so. And while the wasted opportunity is a little depressing, in the end it really just whets our appetites for the next Samsung offering.

When it comes to the Internet connection, Wi-Fi lacks and is sorely missed. To be able to go to the Internet or use Google Maps, you always have to make a data connection through a network. The camera produces nice pictures, although the application does not work as well as that of the Samsung Pixon. Overall, the Samsung Tocco multimedia phone is nice but not particularly special.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Tocco Ultra Edition does a lot of things very well and manages to scrape past on the things it doesn't. It is an overall winner in our books, it's just a shame that it fails on a few points as with a few tweaks and additions, as otherwise this could have been the stylish mass market phone of 2009.

phonedog‘s review Edit

Samsung's S8300 isn't going to fulfil your needs if you are big on texts, instant messages, mobile email, and browsing the web on your phone. But if you're looking for a handsome camera phone that can handle diverse lighting environments and shoot great video, this is one solid device. It feels like it will last, and would be suitable for adults and teens who care more about capturing bits of real life than about interacting virtually.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Overall the Tocco Ultra is a pleasure to use, with plenty to keep you entertained. It delivers a great blend of connected services, but doesn't quite reach the heady heights of some of the smartphones out there. Browsing the Internet isn't a top-notch experience and email isn't a easily configurable as it is on rival handsets.

As the flagship 2009 handset from Samsung, I expected the Tocco Ultra S8300 to be something really special. In some respects, I got it. The superb screen, fine build quality and number-pad/touchscreen combi are all big plus points. But there are a fair few niggles here too, and I expect other handsets to outshine it as the year progresses.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

A short while back we received a shiny new Samsung S8300 in the mail. The S8300, known as the Ultra Touch and Tocco Ultra Edition, is an 8mp cameraphone with an AMOLED touchscreen display.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH, otherwise dubbed as the Tocco Ultra edition, joins in on the bandwagon of full touch handsets that seem to be occupying the upper range of the market quite successfully. Nothing can compare to the ease of use of a touchscreen phone - given the user interface is done right. And Samsung have put a lot of effort in their proprietary TouchWiz interface...

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Being an Ultra series phone, Samsung UltraTOUCH S8300 brings along many of the advantages of other, more narrowly specialized devices in a nice and good-looking body, making it appealing to the common consumer...
