With Wi-Fi missing from the features line-up the Pixon isn't quite the all-singing, all-dancing mobile phone it could have been. But the camera does well and has some interesting features, and overall this is an impressive high end mobile.

The Pixon isn't a smartphone, instead building on the touch control technology and user interface from devices like the Tocco. It does though bring an attractive set of features to your fingertips. Besides the headline-grabbing pixel-count, the Samsung Pixon M8800 has stacked up an impressive amount of camera features and shooting gadgetry.

Samsung M8800 Pixon gets its kick from touchscreen and imaging and hopes to be the definitive cameraphone. The inspired TouchWiz interface and massive screen are the right gateway to getting the 8 megapixel camera and real high-end video unleashed. The Pixon obviously plays second fiddle to the INNOV8 in the Samsung portfolio but dares to challenge it in the imaging department. Picture this...

Phone Arena‘s review Edit Like Unlike

It’s an 8-megapixel camera, it’s a multimedia player… it’s the new Samsung Pixon. The latest model from the Korean company falls in the highest-class and is a direct rival to the Renoir by LG. It’s also one of the many contenders for the title 'King of the multimedia phones', which is currently held by the iPhone. Under the Pixon’s hood you’ll find many features, including an 8-megapixel camera marketed as 'better than an actual camera' and multiple video file formats in order to play clips without having to convert them. The only thing it lacks specification-wise is Wi-Fi and global 3G.
