NOKIA N96 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

With its future-proofed TV tuner and iPlayer download support, the N96 is ideal for TV addicts. We can't recommend it for most users over the iPhone, though, as it lacks its incredible build quality, growing software range and slick interface.

If you are a die-hard N95 fan this would be a good upgrade choice. But with touch screens beginning to dominate it does look a little old fashioned as a top of the range mobile phone.

Nokia has a knack of producing fine multimedia phones. And on paper, the N96 has the form and function to give its peers a serious run for their money. Like its predecessor, the N95, this handset boasts a dual-sliding form factor. Slide the underneath of the handset one way to reveal a numerical keypad and the other to show off a control pad for the phone’s media player.

A great multimedia phone with surprising business features, but it feels clunky.

Although it lives up to its predecessor's fame, the N96's bulky design, a dated Web browser, and high price tag fail to match up to today's more sophisticated competition.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

Without impressing too much through its design, Nokia N96 will probably be quickly forgotten in the favor of the new Nokia touchscreen phones. Fortunately, its maker has taken into account this possibility and has announced the new tier 1 device of the Nseries – Nokia N97. I consider the N96 slider a downgraded version of the N95 8GB, with a higher (unjustified) price.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Nokia N96 has a pretty hefty reputation to live up to. The N95 was a true powerhouse, and the finest converged device of its time. With a 5 megapixel camera, 3G data, the powerful S60 UI and eventually 8GB of internal memory there were few devices that could compete with it, and arguably no one could do it as well. Then along came a little device out of Cupertino and the cellular landscape changed. Not one to be reactive, Nokia has stuck to its guns with the retooled N96 and delivered an upgraded device that once again aims to sit atop of the mobile industry; improvements include 16GB of internal memory with microSDHC expansion and an integrated DVB-H tuner for mobile TV...

GSMArena‘s review Edit

Every time Nokia Nseries numbering goes up a notch geeks are holding their breath. Well, geeks - including us - are no ordinary human beings, but in the case of Nokia N96 they'd been holding their breath since February. The time this multimedia monster picked to actually hit the shelves must have made quite a few people fear it being already outdated.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Though the Nokia N96 is a powerful all-in-one smartphone with an impressive amount of user storage, it's not a significant upgrade to the N95 and is outdone by new devices coming to market, including the Nokia N97.

The N96 scores points for raw hardware specs, but falls down on everyday usability and feel.
