LG V30 Pro Reviews

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Galaxy S9+ and the LG V30 seem very similar on the surface. However, there are many things that separate the two, and a $100 price gap is one of them. Right now, the LG V30 can be yours for about $800, while the Galaxy S9+ costs around $900. But you know what, if you're in the market for a large-screen, high-end Android smartphone, spending those extra $100 on the Galaxy S9+ would be worth it. Sure, the LG V30 is a good phone, but Samsung's offering tops it in a number of areas, including display quality, camera performance, and raw processing power. On the other hand, the LG V30 is likely to last you longer between charges, all while being just as fast with day-to-day activities. But all things considered, the LG V30 would be worth picking over the Galaxy S9+ only after a considerable discount.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

With tons of storage and powerful music capabilities, the LG V30+ is the ultimate phone for audiophiles, and one of only two phones capable of reaching the fastest speeds on Sprint.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

If you haven't picked up on it, we do think that both the LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL are pretty awesome. Now, there are some pros and cons to both phones — the V30 is a bit thinner, a bit easier on the hand, has a headphone jack and a custom UI with themes. The Pixel 2 XL has a disappointing display, but offers top-notch performance, the latest and greatest in software experience directly from Google, and stereo speakers at the cost of a slightly bulkier handset.

DP Review‘s review Edit

With its extreme wide angle secondary camera and and extensive video feature set, the LG V30 makes a great device for vloggers or anyone else interested in video production with a smartphone. The wide angle works great in still photography as well, allowing you to squeeze more into the frame, without the need for accessory lenses. The V30 doesn't quite match the best in class in terms of pixel-level image quality but is otherwise an excellent device for content production and a great smartphone in general use.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The LG V30, just like the iPhone X, it is an enthusiast-grade device, but while the iPhone X is targeted at early adopters, the V30 is more suitable for tinkerers and power users. It may not have the iPhone’s color-accurate display, but it doesn’t have a notch to distract you with. Its cameras may not have Portrait Mode, but its wide-angle lenses could be of use in tricky situations. And while you won’t find Animoji on it, you will find a fast charger in the box. In other words, if you value practicality over showmanship, perhaps the V30 is the phone to consider.

The LG V30 is a rock-solid alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Plus and the Google Pixel 2 XL. If it fits your hands and your photographic needs, you won't be disappointed.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

Occupying the flagship large-screen phone position in LG's line-up, the V30 is packed with interesting features, top-end hardware and enough good stuff to match this year's competitors. But it's once again up against some massive new devices, particularly the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Google Pixel 2 XL, leaving LG with an uphill battle to ensure the V30 remains in the conversation.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

At its core the V30 is a phone with heaps of power and good battery life - plus fast charging options - and a camera that, while not the best, offers creative options you cannot achieve from most other devices. Within that, there's a uniqueness that gives the LG V30 appeal. But the display isn't the best you'll find on a device at this size. While it doesn't suffer like the Google Pixel 2 XL (which is to the detriment of the whole experience), the V30 can perform poorly in some conditions. For some, that might be a situation that never arises, but for others, it could well be the deal-breaker.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

If you liked the idea of the G6, but weren't quite ready to buy a new phone earlier this year, the V30 is an easy recommendation. Or if you thought the Galaxy S8+ was a little underwhelming (or the Note 8 too expensive), the V30 comes through with a similar package, but the very useful upgrade of dual cameras. It's arguably LG's strongest smartphone effort all year, and while we can't say if that will ultimately spell broad success for the V30, this is one phone that deserves a win.

The V30 is a really good phone in a sea of great ones, and it just doesn't do enough to stand out from the crowd.
