OnePlus 5 Pro Reviews

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

While both the iPhone 8 Plus and the OnePlus 5 have their pros and cons, probably the biggest deciding factor for the regular user will be price of admission attached to either handset. Sure, you will have to pay a premium to get into the Apple club, but it could very well be worth it - you get a device that's been perfected and polished for over three years, runs the excellent iOS, and will allow you to benefit from excellent support down the road. That said, the OnePlus 5 is not a bad phone either: just like any other device, it has certain drawbacks, but for the price it flaunts, it's quite an appealing, albeit a bit unpolished offering. At the end of the day, you will get what you pay for.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The OnePlus 5 is one of the best phones to get if value for money is what you’re looking for. It was far from perfect at launch, but software updates have taken care of many of the wrinkles, and now, with a starting price below $500, it is a phone worth checking out. Thanks to the top-notch hardware under its hood, speed is one of its biggest strengths, and Android enthusiasts could find the clean, bloat-free UI more appealing than Samsung’s software experience. But is the OnePlus 5 a worthy alternative to the Galaxy Note 8? Not really. Anyone who is even considering the Galaxy Note 8 as their next Android phone is likely someone who does not make compromises. True, you can get two OnePlus 5 phones for the price of a Galaxy Note 8, but with its modern and efficient design, with its superior camera, with its feature-rich interface and S Pen integration, the Note 8 is definitely the handset to go with if you demand the very best Android can currently offer.

DP Review‘s review Edit

In certain shooting situations the OnePlus 5 shows some limitations in terms of pixel-level image quality but overall the camera captures good exposures with wide dynamic range and pleasant colors. In video mode we were especially impressed by the excellent stabilization and thanks to a premium look and feel, powerful processing, and ample memory the OnePlus is a great device in general use.

The OnePlus 5 is a very well-rounded phone for the price, it’s just not the screaming value proposition OnePlus phones once were.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

If you're not willing to pay extra for Samsung's ultra flashy phone, then it should be a no-brainer – the OnePlus 5 is the one for you. And even if you're willing to pay more, but you're not a fan of the curved screen on the S8+, or the new aspect ratio, the OnePlus 5 is still one of the best options out there, considering the price point.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

There is one thing that draws a clear line between the OnePlus 5 and the iPhone 7 Plus, and it’s not the performance, features, battery or software: it’s price.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

The OnePlus 5 is undoubtedly worth the cash it’ll cost the average user here in the United States. I’m not thrilled with the idea that OnePlus is gradually moving their business away from the “shockingly-good value” market to the “decent value” market, but if they can manage to do it, more power to them. With no knowledge of the value/cost of previous OnePlus model phones, this device is an obvious buy.

The OnePlus 5 is outstanding, especially for the price; no other phone gives you the same bang for the buck.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The OnePlus 5 may not be as cheap as the company's previous handsets, but it's one of the best phones on the market right now. A great camera, phenomenal performance and a premium design combine to make this a fantastic buy for anyone looking for a more affordable flagship phone.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The OnePlus 5 is an attractive unlocked phone with fast performance, solid camera capabilities, and excellent battery life, but it's not as strong a value as previous models.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Overall, the OnePlus 5 does not feel as ground-breaking as the OnePlus 3. It’s an evolution rather than a revolution, but if you are looking for a solid all-around performer for a great price, the OnePlus 5 is still in a category of its own: one of the best — if not the best — option out there.
