The tambourine is sparkly and clear, while vocals are delivered with emotive clarity. The only problem is the bass. While it’s detailed and chunky, it’s also a little over-exuberant, drowning out and slowing down the lower-part of the midrange. Unfortunately the IE8s’ bass response adjuster is missing from the IE7s, so you’ll have to live with it. Big bass lovers won’t mind, but we’d prefer a more even balance

Sennheiser has crafted a very successful line of in-ears with the IE-line. The IE7s are no exception, with an incredibly big sound stage and musical presentation they are a winner. Sound quality wise the IE7 model is a tiger leap forward compared to the IE6 which are alright for the price. The IE7s are just so much more entertaining to listen to and in the long run I think you will find it a good investment if you like the rather distinct Sennheiser house sound.

The IE 7s are superb highend earbuds that are fully competitive with other top models in this price class. Strengths include relatively high sensitivity (which helps give an energetic, full-bodied sound), excellent bass, and clear, well-balanced midrange.
