Motorola Moto G (2015) Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

It's pricier than previous generations, but an amazing camera and near-flawless performance make this the most complete-feeling Moto G yet.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Even without making allowances for its price, the new Moto G is a very well specced and high performing smartphone that also packs a decent camera. It can’t quite resolve the same amount of detail as the 21MP device fitted to the Moto X Play and X Style, but the Moto G comes surprisingly close to matching these and even pricier smartphones when it comes to daytime image quality. Low light performance is less accomplished, but the Moto G’s results are still acceptable. The only significant drawbacks with the new Moto G are its lack of NFC and a restrictive camera app, although these are fairly excusable limitations given the Moto G’s price. We’d also recommend forking out for the 16GB storage / 2GB RAM version in order to future-proof performance, though this does bring the cost to within £100 of the Moto X Play and its superior camera and screen. It’s a very close call, but we’d recommend the Moto X Play as the best value option in the new Moto range for photographers, but if your budget can’t stretch to that, the third generation Moto G offers a heck of a lot for the money.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

One of the best aspects of the Moto G remains the price tag: at just $180 for the 8GB model with 1 GB of RAM, this smartphone is exceptionally affordable and a very decent value proposition considering the hardware inside. Spending an extra $40 is worth it if you want more storage and RAM, but there’s no denying that either option is a great choice if you’re after an entry-level smartphone.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Motorola retains its championship belt for best low-cost smartphone in the world with the Moto G 2015 (3rd edition). While we were hesitant to upgrade from the Moto G to the 2nd edition Moto G, here the jump is great enough to make. Even those of you who own the original Moto G can rest easy knowing your cash is going towards a device that's worth the buck. This device is great for anyone who purchased a low-end smartphone in the past few years as well as those that've never owned a smartphone before. Those of you that have top-tier smartphones from three years ago: this device is an upgrade. Everyone else: the new Moto X devices coming out later this year are going to be real wallops to the top-tier smartphone market due to their high-quality build and slightly-lower cost than the competition. Stay tuned to our Motorola tag portal for more.

The new Motorola Moto G doesn't cost much, but it's all the smartphone many people will need.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

It’s only getting tougher for phones in the mid-range category to make an indelible mark in the industry, especially when the last few months have yielded some awesome and value-conscious phones already. For the third-generation Moto G, however, it simply reaffirms that it’s the phone to beat in this increasingly crowded ‘premium’ mid-range space. At the very least, you’ll only need to shell out $179.99 to pick it up unlocked with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. That’s not too shabby considering you’re getting a phone with near stock Android and an IPX7 water-resistant construction. Comparing apples to apples, our particular review unit, the 16GB storage model with 2GB of RAM, still has a ton of value at $219.99. That alone undercuts recent phones like the Asus Zenfone 2 and Huawei P8 Lite in the process, so it’s a testament to Motorola that they still have what it takes to reign supreme. Of course, the Moto G isn’t for everyone, but it strikes that perfect balance of value, design, and performance – while still staying true to the foundational principles of the series. There’s a reason why the Moto G series is constantly a mainstream, it just keeps on getting better. And obviously, we continue to see that with this latest iteration. Power users might not take fancy in this phone, but it still generates a broader appeal. Don’t underestimate the intensity of what it offers!
