Microsoft Lumia 640 Pro Reviews

SlashGear‘s review Edit

The value of this device is in its ability to provide calls, popular app access, and photos, all at reasonably fine quality for a rather low price. If you've never owned a smartphone before, this might be a great time to have a peek. If you've owned a Windows Phone device before and are planning on upgrading from a smaller display, this is also a perfectly fine place to go. At less than two hundred bucks and a guarantee for the "core features of Windows 10" as it becomes available later this year, this device is a fine choice. If Microsoft chooses to do away with their hardware division or spin it off or any number of other odd possibilities, do no fret. Even in the transition between Nokia and Microsoft, support for hardware hasn't failed. One thing this crew of creators has going for it - amongst many other great attributes - is its dedication to creating a great experience for smartphone users for the lifetime of their products. On that you can rely.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

I feel like the Lumia 640 is a great device as far as hardware is concerned, but for me it was let down by its software. I'm sure there are people who won't have the trouble with third party apps that I did, but I'm confident that there are a lot more people who will. Anyone who is thinking about switching over to Windows Phone should definitely take a look at the Windows Store to see if their favorite apps are available. Trying them out on a real device is also useful to check the quality of apps. If you're a user who is fine with Windows Phone and its app selection, then I think you'll enjoy the Lumia 640. It's a really great device for the price, and it's unfortunate that in my case there were just too many missing apps to make the Lumia 640 work for me.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Everyone is eagerly awaiting for the next-gen Lumia smartphone, the one that’s specs heavy, feature-rich, and heavy handed against the competition. Well, we’re going to have to wait longer because the Microsoft Lumia 640 isn’t that handset. Rather, it’s on the other side of the spectrum – where it’s an entry-level, low cost handset meant for basic use. In that regard, the Lumia 640 is a strong performer, especially if we’re to factor in its $130 cost as a prepaid option courtesy of Cricket Wireless. No doubt, the design is unmistakably Lumia in every facet, but more important is that it carries all the same tools and features we get in other Lumia branded smartphones. This phone isn’t for everybody, naturally, but for those who have been disappointed by comparable entry-level Android phones, this is surely a smart option to think about from the Windows Phone camp. It’s cheap, but not cheap-cheap in the way that the experience is dramatically compromised.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

Had the Lumia 640 been $20 cheaper instead, it would definitely be worth considering. But unfortunately it is not, which at this point in time, makes it hard to recommend.
