Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ10 Pro Reviews

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Panasonic Lumix SZ10 is a compact and fairly stylish point and shoot camera with a good zoom range, thanks to a 12x optical zoom lens. The tilting screen and built in Wi-Fi will be appealing to many however, the use of a CCD sensor means that the camera is not as quick as competitors that all use a CMOS sensor. This also means that the SZ10 only offers 720p video, whilst others offer full HD video. If the price of the SZ10 was noticeably lower than the competition, then this might be something you could live with, however, as the price is the same, you've got to be very keen on the tilting selfie screen for this camera to be your first choice. The panoramic mode is also pretty disappointing, producing very low-resolution images. Images from the SZ10 are reasonably good, with decent colour and exposure, and there are a number of creative effects available. If you simply must have a selfie-screen, then the SZ10 is one of the cheapest cameras available with this feature. If you've got more money to spend then the TZ57 is definitely worth looking at, priced at £159, and also features a selfie screen.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The SZ10 has a wide range of features, including a selfie screen, Wi-Fi and an impressive 12x zoom range, but it's let down by its indifferent image quality, especially at higher ISO settings in poor light.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ10 has a 16 million pixel CCD sensor. There’s also a lens with a 12x optical zoom - which gives you an equivalent of 24-288mm in 35mm terms. There’s also an Intelligent Zoom available, which boosts it to 24x, as well as digital zoom which boosts it to 4x the reach. If you’re a fan of shooting selfies, this camera could be for you, as its 460k-dot, 2.7 inch LCD screen tilts forward 180 degrees and includes a purpose designed selfie mode. Additional features of the SZ10 include inbuilt Wi-Fi, 720p video recording, and different shooting modes which includes automatic, scene and digital filters mode. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ10 is available in black, silver or white and retails for around £149 / $199.
