If you need a low-cost printer that has a very aggressive per-page print cost, the Canon Maxify iB4020 could be the model you’ve been looking for. As a printer, it’s an unusual combination, because you generally get a low purchase price or a low print cost—not both together. And if you do get both, you often pay a penalty in the print quality or paper capacity. And that’s not the case with the iB4020. The downsides are the relatively slow print speeds and the small text-based LCD, as well as the fact that this is “just” a printer, not a multifunction machine that can scan, copy, and fax, too. We can’t recommend this printer if you’ll be using it somewhere with murky lighting; the LCD can be quite hard to read in poor light. Be sure you can place it into a well-lit environment.
