This smart looking machine is hampered by its size and weight – while both figures are fine when it comes to laptops, they're just too big to make a comfortable tablet in all but a handful of circumstances. Processing performance and battery life are good, but they're held back by a poor screen and dodgy ergonomics. Unless you really need a hybrid, you'd be better off buying a dedicated tablet or laptop.

The Envy x360 flunked our battery rundown test, lasting less than five hours in an admittedly grueling video playback exercise. That's only fair for a laptop and extremely poor for a tablet.At the end of the day, while we appreciate the HP Envy x360's attempt to please users seeking a laptop and tablet in one device, we think it's simply too big, heavy, and unwieldy to serve the latter function. And while the concept of a big-screened convertible has merit for its other modes—using the tent or stand mode to show a presentation or watch a movie—the Envy is handicapped by its brief battery life and compromised display.As a laptop, the Envy x360 is decidedly OK. But as a tablet, it's not even a reasonable facsimile.

PC World‘s review Edit Like Unlike

The HP Envy x360 delivers good multimedia features and flexible display options at a moderate price, but its mediocre performance and battery life and MIA 5GHz Wi-Fi support will give some buyers pause.
