As entry-level to midrange laser printers go, the HL-L8350CDW is a good one. It’s relatively fast; it prints nice-looking documents; and its monochrome CPP is relatively low. In addition, it’s well-built and very easy to use. Compared to other laser printers in this price range, this Brother model holds up well. Still, today’s emerging class of high-volume multifunction office inkjets is increasingly compelling, with their strong print speeds, excellent print quality, and low cost per page. With these printers gaining steam, it's no longer a no-brainer choice to opt for a single-function laser, especially if the CPP is high in comparion. Granted, some environments simply need single-function printers, with some types of business specifically requiring laser-printed output. And if your environment calls for a single-function laser, and color output is on the menu, the HL-L8350CDW is not a bad choice. However, the HL-L8350CDW would be a much better choice with a big price reduction, and this typically happens when a unit like this one has been on the market for a while. As we were finishing up this review, Brother started offering a $50 “Instant Rebate” from BrotherMall.com when you buy this printer, and a few other sellers offered discounts to $350. Fifty bucks off the MSRP, in our opinion, is not quite enough of a discount yet—but it’s a start.

Brother's latest standalone colour laser printer is a good all-rounder without being exceptional and should appeal to SMEs wanting volume printing at a reasonably high speed and good quality. Printing costs are not especially economical though.
