Ultimately, the Lenovo Miix 2 10 succeeds as a Windows 8 tablet but falls short as a laptop replacement. With the available 128GB solid-state drive, it boasts twice as much storage as comparable Windows slates like the Asus Transformer Book T100. The Miix also boasts a gorgeous 1,920x1,200 touch screen, while many competitors peak at 1,366x768. The only area in which it falls behind is in battery life—although seven and half hours of continuous usage is nothing to sneeze at. Unfortunately, the included keyboard is cramped and suffers from awkward key placement and shallow travel, making it difficult to use the Lenovo for productivity tasks. A finicky touch pad is sure to cause even more frustration. At $599, our test unit is also $100 to $200 more expensive than value-class Win 8 detachables and convertibles.Still, the Miix 2 10 is a standout Windows 8 slate. Its combination of aesthetic beauty and a bundled keyboard makes it an excellent choice if you're looking for a tablet that's good for watching movies or reading online plus composing short e-mails and other light productivity tasks.
