Canon PowerShot SX700 HS Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

If you're after a reliable camera to take on your travels, and are tempted in by a huge zoom range, then you can't go far wrong with the Canon PowerShot SX700HS. It's a good step up from the SX280 in terms of image quality, with particularly impressive performance when shooting in low light, high sensitivity situations. There's a couple of issues which stop it being better though – such as not being able to set the autofocus point, or the lack of raw format shooting. Overall though, a very competent camera which shouldn't leave you disappointed. It's also worth noting that, as it stands, it's reasonably cheaper than its closest competitors from Sony and Panasonic.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Overall, this camera provides decent quality images and a range of features that will appeal to both advanced photographers and happy snappers alike. Image quality is good for a camera of this type, although corners can be a little soft at the wide angle end of the zoom. The image stabilisation works well and video quality is very good also. Wireless connectivity features make sharing images on the go a pleasure and the novel remote control feature is ideal for those partial to taking the odd 'selfie'. The camera is reasonably priced compared to alternatives too.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

We have been worried about Canon’s compact cameras, wondering if the company even cares about the category anymore. The PowerShot ELPH 340 HS we recently reviewed left much to be desired. But with the SX700, it shows that Canon is putting its resources not in budget models, but in more advanced offerings (as are most camera companies). At $350, the SX700 is slightly pricier than many compact cameras, but, for the price, you get a terrific long-zoom camera that delivers very good-to-excellent images and video. The SX700 has advantages over smartphones and lesser digicams, but don’t expect it to perform miracles in low light.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot SX700 HS has a 30x lens and a lot of features, but image quality suffers in low light.
