AMD Athlon FX-55 Pro Reviews

www.pcper.com‘s review Edit

The FX-55 processor is the fastest gaming processor. The FX-55 is a beast. It is able to out perform the competition quite handily in a majority of the benchmarks we saw, with the exceptions of the Sysmark test and the professional rendering applications. While I can't simply recommend that everyone go out and get the first FX-55 they can find simply because of its price point, if you are in the market for the absolute best when it comes to performance, you're money shouldn't be spent anywhere else.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

It came as no surprise to us that both the Athlon 64 FX-55 and Model 4000+ processors are hugely fast processors. AMD hasn't really brought anything new to the table but, and here's the crucial thing, it hasn't had to. The FX-55 is a recipient of another 200MHz clock speed, thus raising the performance bar yet again. Bottom line is that AMD has raised the performance bar yet again with its new FX-55 and Model 4000+ CPUs.

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

As a result, Athlon 64 FX-55 turned out a unique CPU from the technological point of view. To make it AMD uses very “tricky” approach that is why its frequency potential is higher than that of any other Athlon 64 processor. However, there is nothing free in this world, so besides the high working frequency, the new Athlon 64 FX-55 also “boasts” higher heat dissipation and power consumption.

Tom's Hardware‘s review Edit

Now, we see that the new FX-55 at 2.6 GHz is able to close most of the remaining gaps in the Pentium 4's performance lead for MPEG-2, MPEG-4 or MP3 encoding as well as the video editing software Studio 9 and is almost head to head with the Pentium 4 Processor 560 or the Extreme Edition at 3.4 GHz. Meanwhile, despite the marginal differences in performances between the high-end and low-end lines from both AMD and Intel, the bright winner of today's race is AMD's Athlon64 FX-55, as Intel's Extreme Edition loses more ground.
