AMD Athlon FX FX-60 Pro Reviews

www.pcper.com‘s review Edit

The AMD Athon 64 FX-60 processor brings a new level of performance to AMD's desktop processor line up. The gaming performance of the FX-60, however, wasn't a jump over the previous FX-57 or even the FX-55 in most cases. There currently is NOT a big jump in gaming performance with dual cores in most cases quite yet. The multitasking tests showed that the FX-60 is more than capable of handling any kind of situation you throw at it; and this one place where the FX-60 can really shine when compared to the FX-57 and FX-55 processors.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

It won't be cheap, but then for most FX consumers that matters little. They want the best CPU for their systems and under default conditions, the FX-60 is that microprocessor. What edges it for the FX-60 is the excellence of the supporting platform and the environmental performance, on top of the slender overall performance win.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

While most of the benchmarks used in our review favored the new Athlon 64 FX-60 processor, the fact remains that once you have an older single-threaded application, the FX-57 would still be the faster processor.

There were quite a few cases when the new Intel CPU could probably shaken AMD’s leadership, however, the just launched AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 doesn’t leave the competitor even a single chance in almost all of them. Among the indisputable advantages of the newcomer from AMD targeted for the high-end pricing segment of the market I should list lower power consumption and heat dissipation than that of the competitor’s solutions.

Tom's Hardware‘s review Edit

With the exception of a few audio and video encoding benchmarks, the Athlon 64 FX-60 represents the new device to beat as far as performance goes, thanks to its two processing cores. This superlative also applies to our multitasking benchmarks. If you intend to use either ATI or NVIDIA's multi GPU platform (Crossfire and SLI respectively), this processor is a great choice for the best-possible 3D gaming experience.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

To get more out of such a heavy graphics card setup, the FX-60 is what you’re going to want but it is not the be all and end all of performance as our benchmarks results we’re not exactly mind blowing when compared to the cheaper X2 3800+. Sure, we understand that overclocking can come into the picture and the FX-60 can commonly hit 3GHz on air and hit more with water and phase change but for two processors at stock, the X2 3800+ really holds it ground for the price.

The conclusion is quite simple. Athlon 64 FX-60 is a missile of a processor and if you thought it was worth the cash to buy one of the previous models of FX then you should place your order for an FX-60 now. However, if you currently own an Athlon 64 X2, while there’s no doubt that the FX-60 will be an improvement, it would be hard to justify the asking price.
