LACIE Sound2 Pro Reviews

gadgetreview‘s review Edit

At $100 I can hardly recommend the LaCie Sound² Speakers as a resolve to your desktop audio needs. Aesthetically they score some big points but at the end of the day they’re all looks and no brawn.

An attractive set of portable speakers with an integrated USB sound card, but we expect consistently good sound quality at this price.

The LaCie name is probably most associated with introducing a touch of sexiness to the humble external hard disk, but in the world of hi-fi it's small beer. That’s why it’s a stroke of simple genius that the company has partnered with Cabasse, highly respected purveyor of classy loudspeakers, for its latest foray into desktop audio. The result of this collaboration is the Sound2 speakers, which, along with a striking Neil Poulton design, boast a USB connection to a computer, as well as a line-in for a portable music player.

MacNN‘s review Edit

LaCie’s attention to ergonomic design is hard to ignore, but does feel slightly deceptive: the sound is only good, not the really good one might hope for out of a designer set. Conversely, audiophiles will want to keep looking, especially as $100 can net powerful 2.1-channel speakers in many cases.

If you are after strange looking but good sounding speakers then pick up the LaCie Sound2 system. They don't cost too much and they'll be a great conversation starter.
