The HIS R9 270X IceQ X² Turbo is a rock solid implementation of the R9 270X that draws a lot from its high overclock out of the box. With up to 1140 MHz on its GPU, the card runs faster than most other pre-overclocked R9 270X cards on the market, giving it a 3-4% performance advantage over the reference design, which, compared to other cards, makes it faster than the HD 7950 and just 2% slower than the GTX 660 Ti. It would have been nice if HIS had overclocked the memory chips, even just a bit, as the extra performance would be welcome. Overall, the card is a good choice if you are looking to play games at full HD, with good details, and don't have a lot of money to spend. The only real issue I have with this card is its fan noise. It's pretty quiet in idle, but not as quiet as it should be given what we've seen from other cards in its price and performance range. Noise levels during gaming are simply too high; any other card for around 200 bucks, from any other vendor, will basically be quieter. The card does, on the other hand, run very low temperatures of only 60°C under load, but these provide no advantage to the user. A more balanced approach allowing for up to, say, 70°C would have greatly reduced fan noise. Its included overclock out of the box and a cooler that handles heat well are a major plus many other companies ask premiums of over 10% for; If only it were quieter.
