AMD Phenom X3 8750 Pro Reviews

www.pcper.com‘s review Edit

In most of our tests the performance of the X3 8750 CPU was better than dual-core processors including AMD's own Athlon X2 6000+ and the Intel X6800 2.93 GHz part. There were some mixed results though including in our multimedia tests where only one of the three video encoders put the X3 8750 ahead of the X6800 or E6750 from Intel. If you are comfortable with overclocking as well then the X3 8750 might offer you even more value for your buck with some simple BIOS adjustments.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

The Phenom X3 8750, and X3 series, provides AMD with a much needed successor to the ageing Athlon 64, and is almost comparable in terms of performance to Intel's Core 2 Duo.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

The Phenom X3 8750 looks to be out of luck even before it's even in retail at its US$195 price point. The only silver lining that we can see for AMD is that the popularity of some of Intel's processors may push up their prices in retail or they could be of limited stock. In fact, the Phenom X3 could turn out to be a competitor with the X4, and it looks like a cheaper alternative if the quad-core version is beyond your budget.

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

To be fair, I would like to add that if AMD decided to lower the prices even more, Phenom X3 may become a worthy alternative to Core 2 Duo E4000 and Pentium Dual Core. In conclusion I would like to say that Phenom X3 can not always be recommended as a suitable upgrade for the Socket AM2 systems. The thing is that top dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processors can often offer better performance, although with higher heat dissipation.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

Throughout testing, the Phenom X3 8750 performed in-line with our expectations, outpacing the dual-core chips more often than not, and falling behind the quad-cores in all of the multi-threaded applications. Despite a huge clock speed disadvantage, the Phenom X3 8750 was able to outpace the 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo E6850 in a handful of tests, and in all but a couple of tests it was faster than the 3.2GHz Athlon 64 X2 6400+ as well.

AMD's triple-core X3 Phenom CPUs offer an interesting alternative to the traditional dual- and quad-core products. However, the price is just a little bit too high for us to recommend them right now. Once they hit £100-£110, though, then you're looking at a great buy.

computershopper‘s review Edit

AMD's triple-core Phenom X3 CPU is a worthy choice for Athlon X2 owners on a tight budget looking for a speed boost, but its strongest competition comes from the quad-core Phenom X4, which isn't much more expensive.
