Dell B1163w Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Meant as a personal MFP, the Dell Mono Multifunction Printer - B1163w is also suitable for a micro office for light-duty printing and still lighter-duty scanning and copying.

On the whole, Dell’s B1163w is a bargain at its $149.99 MSRP. Yes, we didn’t like a few things about it, such as the faux simulator for Eco savings, the non-upgradable 150-sheet feeder, its relatively slow printing, its inability to discriminate between missing paper and a paper jam, and the occasional inaccuracies in its Printer Manager and user’s guide. But we weighed up the positives, and they had a lot more heft than the quibbles: printing from a variety of mobile devices, the tilt-up control panel, the Print Manager’s depth, the surprisingly good print reproduction, the decent CPP, its easy Wi-Fi connectivity, and the bundled Nuance PaperPort. Factor in that the B1163w is also sturdy and attractive—and comes with a one-year warranty—and you have an excellent value among low-end monochrome multifunction lasers. Its lack of Ethernet will keep it out of big businesses. But homes and home offices—especially homes with students that print lots of paper report drafts—will be happy with it.
