It's a solid, thin and powerful phone with a great camera. And most importantly, the Oppo N1 beats the opposition in terms of price. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 costs around £450 to buy unlocked outside of a contract, whereas the Oppo N1 is relatively cheap - at around £370 ($615, AU$680) - to buy direct from Oppo. Plus Oppo throws in a really nice flip case and a remote to control the camera. In terms of bang for buck, the N1 is a winner. The capacitive buttons are a bit temperamental and there are some small bugs in the OS, but the camera and its original rotating mount are both awesome features. It feels like Oppo is trying very hard to make friends with the N1. It's certainly made a few here.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit Like Unlike

If you’re on a 3G network and are looking for a fully-featured bargain phablet then the Oppo N1 walks all over the likes of the Huawei Ascend Mate. Can’t stretch to a Galaxy Note 3? The N1 would be our alternative budget choice. It’s got a lot going for it, even if it does come from a brand that many Westerners will look at and say "what?". It’s like the hipster of phones; a positively different device that, while it won’t suit all, we have grown to love over time.

Set for a release in early December, the Oppo N1 will cost 3,498 Chinese yuan (US $574). You'll be able to order it from Oppo's online store when it launches. That's not terribly cheap, but you'll be getting a beautiful innovative Android smartphone that's pretty unique. Given how practical and sensible the rotating camera is, I wouldn't be surprised if more manufacturers feature something similar in the future. The limited edition version shipping with CyanogenMod will retail in December and at the same price.
