Canon PIXMA MG7120 Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

We’ve always liked the output from six-ink Pixmas, and the Pixma MG7120 is no exception. It printed our test photos with considerable accuracy and detail, as well as bright, vibrant colors. Granted, several similarly priced models out there, including the Epson XP-810 Small-in-One and HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One, print very nice-looking photos, too. To our eyes, though, the Pixma MG7120 and its other six-ink siblings print slightly nicer photos in terms of overall vibrancy, color, and detail. If that’s your primary concern—getting the best photos possible—the Pixma MG7120, combined with high-quality photo shots themselves, properly handled image files, and premium glossy photo paper, is a very good place to start. Granted, this outfit, combined with its consumables, will levy a premium versus a mainstream AIO, such as one of Canon’s own “MX” line of business-ready inkjets. (The $199.99-list Pixma MX922, for example, comes to mind.) In any case, due primarily to its rather high cost per page, we can’t recommend the Pixma MG7120 for environments with lots of large business documents to print. The output's just too slow and costly. Then too, there’s the aforementioned lack of an ADF, which makes the device itself cumbersome for nonprinting functions, such as copying and scanning, that involve anything more than a single page. Still, when it comes to printing high-quality photos, few AIOs can beat this little Pixma’s output. We like it for small and home offices that need exceptional photograph printing, even if it might cost a little more per image. That it also churns out good-looking business documents as needed is, as we see it, a bonus.

PC World‘s review Edit

The Canon Pixma MG7120 has gorgeous output quality and design. For a printer at this price point, however, we expected inks to be a little cheaper than they are.
