Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p Pro Reviews

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

With its portable form factor, strong performance and affordable price point the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P delivers on all fronts. Equipped with dual NVidia GT 750M GPUs, 16GB of RAM and a 2.2 GHz fourth generation i7 processor the Y510P is able to tackle most functions including new games with consistent performance. Weighing in at only 6lbs. the Y510P is incredibly mobile for a gaming device. Unfortunately that mobility is severely hampered by the Y510P's lack of battery life. In all other areas the Y510P has the make of a great general-use device, but the 2 hour battery life holds it back from delivering on the day-to-day. However, as an affordable gaming Notebook the Lenovo Y510P is top notch. The pair of SLI-enabled GPUs can easily run most games on the market, and users can expect high-end performance from SLI-enabled games and software. Sure there are more powerful devices on the market, but consumers will be hard pressed to find many gaming rigs that offer the same performance to price ration found in the Lenovo Y510P.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

In some ways, the IdeaPad Y510p covers the gamut from success to failure. One of the most distinguishing factors is without a question Lenovo's UltraBay. The swappable bay allows the user to quickly adapt the notebook to the task at hand - regardless if it is watching a Blu-ray movie (insert the optical drive) or playing demanding games (replace the optical drive with the secondary GPU). Despite the occurrence of micro stutters and the dependency on the latest drivers, the IdeaPad Y510p has the makings of a bestseller. Which other notebook sells for 1000 Euro (~$1300) and offers the performance of a system with a GeForce GTX 680M or GTX 770M graphics card? It would be hard to cram more performance into a 15-inch notebook - at least not if weight and dimensions are a concern.
