ASUS Z87-PLUS Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

We’re sure not everyone will be enamored by the Z87-Plus’ gold accents, although most of the Z87 boards we’ve seen have had gold or yellow highlights. (Midas, for example, seems to have touched both MSI’s Z87 Mpower Max and Gigabyte’s GA-Z87X-UD5H.) But color scheme aside, this board from Asus is the lowest-priced Z87 option we’ve seen to date, and it really isn’t lacking anything essential for a mainstream build, unless you need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integrated. And if your PC case doesn't have a window in the side, the board could be shocking pink, for all we mind. The Z87-Plus may not have the most SATA or USB ports we’ve seen, but it certainly has enough for most system setups, especially, if in the case of USB, you make use of the onboard headers. And if you’ve got old PCI cards (and maybe a PS/2 peripheral) you’d like to carry over from your previous PC, this board will make your old hardware feel right at home and further cut your build costs.

Ultimately I was rather satisfied with this board. Perhaps it does OC as well as the others, but we'll have to wait and see how my chip does in another board. Until then, and actually regardless of the possible lower OC, this board is perfect for any new build. Besides the hideous Trans Am color scheme this board will bring to your case, it's quite the nice board at just the right price.
