Samsung NX2000 Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

The Samsung NX2000 is a technological tour-de-force, and may well be a sign of things to come in the CSC market, but this is a camera for people who would otherwise buy a point-and-shoot compact. With its massive monitor, multi-touch screen and advanced smartphone/PC wireless integration it is a camera for the iPhone generation – or at least the Samsung Galaxy S4 generation. It is certainly capable of taking very good shots, but the secondary nature of its manual controls conveys the impression that image quality is less important than the ability to instantly share your pictures with your friends. It's also quite an expensive camera considering its limited features, and in summary there are better performing and better-equipped CSCs available for less.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The Samsung NX2000 sits very comfortably between the NX1100 and the NX300--offering users a high quality camera for a reasonable price. If fact, at the time of this review we were able to find the NX2000 for about $600 (making it the same price as the NX1100. That's a $150 savings over the NX300. But is the price difference worth it? Not in my book. I would spend the extra money to get a camera with a little more beef and a hybrid AF system. I'm not saying the NX2000 is a bad camera. It's not. It's actually really good...better than I expected. Its image quality is generally clean and sharp. Its autofocus is pretty speedy and its Wi-Fi connectivity is great. But I prefer the solid feel of the NX300 and the physical mode dial that rests on the top of its body. The hybrid AF is a bonus and I was very happy with its responsiveness.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Samsung NX2000 takes the NX-series in a more smartphone-like direction, with a much greater reliance on its Android-aping touchscreen interface than previous models. It's so reliant on the excellent and very large 3.7 inch screen that we'd almost recommend not considering it if you don't like controlling a camera via a touchscreen. For everyone else the NX2000 is a very capable and intuitive device, with performance and quality that belies its modest price-tag. The NX2000's 20.3 megapixel sensor delivers excellent still image quality, with a very usable ISO range of 100-6400, plus 1080p HD video at a range of frame rates complete with auto-focusing, full control over the exposure settings, stereo sound and a wealth of other options. The NX2000 offers all the advantages that a camera with a large APS-C DSLR sensor has, namely better performance at higher ISOs and greater depth-of-field than the smaller Micro Four Thirds format, although the trade-off comes in the form of comparably bigger lenses.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

On its own, the Samsung NX2000 is a solid CSC that takes terrific photos with enough light, has a top-notch touchscreen, and a Wi-Fi arsenal that’s still best in its class. However, the camera does not exist in a vacuum and we’d spend the extra money for the NX300. If we were looking to save $150, however, and put that money as partial payment on a second lens, then we have no problems recommending the NX2000. Just forget about shooting dark gray cats on a moonless night!

The Samsung NX2000 mirrorless camera has a huge touch-screen display and great Wi-Fi support, but it's a little slow to focus.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Samsung NX2000 is a fairly compact mirrorless camera with a high resolution 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and a large 3.7inch touch screen on the back. The camera delivers impressive image quality with excellent levels of detail and colour with good noise performance. The camera has a good level of control, with the large touch screen helping here, although visibility was not great when outdoors. The Samsung NX2000, as part of the Samsung NX series has access to a wide range of lenses, including a number of compact prime lenses, including a new 10.5mm fisheye, 16mm wide angle, 20mm, and 30mm prime lenses. The 20-50mm kit lens gives good levels of detail and is relatively compact, although the lack of optical image stabilisation and slower focus speeds will disappoint particularly if you plan to use the camera for video, where you would be better off with the larger 18-55mm OIS kit lens. With a wide variety of lenses, great image quality and excellent Wi-Fi sharing features, the Samsung NX2000 is well worth some serious consideration. The large 3.7inch touch screen has an impressive resolution and makes it easy to use the camera, both in photo or playback modes.
