The Panasonic L32E6 is an affordable (£360) 32-inch TV from the lower reaches of Panasonic’s 2013 LCD TV range. Its relatively lowly position means it lacks 3D playback and some of the picture processing power of the brand’s more expensive LCD ranges. But it still has Panasonic’s latest Smart TV system, complete with its inspired My Home Screen interface, and it's cheap for a big-name brand. Question is: is it any good?

For the price, the Panasonic TX-L32E6B is excellent value for money: it not only looks stylish, but also has impressive calibration controls, great Smart features, and good picture quality. Nevertheless there is that last hurdle it just can’t get over, and that is its black level. It’s a real shame that the IPS panel has been chosen for this screen size, as we believe that if a VA LCD panel had been used, this would have been another triumph for the Panasonic LED line-up. If you’re not concerned about black-level performance, and watch most of your content in the day or in a brightly-lit room, you’ll love the 32E6. However, if you can stretch both the size and budget that little bit more, the better option would be the TX-L42E6B.

A fast-working, dependable and great-looking Edge LED TV with a smart TV user interface as impressive as any we've seen, the Panasonic TX-L32E6B is one of the smartest choices for a bedroom or second room that's currently around. Picture quality isn't quite as impressive as on bigger iterations, such as the Panasonic TX-L42E6B, but it's mighty fine nonetheless, handling all sources with enough care. The icing on the cake is the free Viera Remote 2 app for smartphones and tablets, and in particular its Swipe & Share 2.0 feature that trade files back-and-forth between mobile devices and the TV. Now that's pretty advanced for a bedroom TV.
