Canon PowerShot SD960 IS Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

So is the SD960 IS worth considering? With a street price of $330, a 12.1-megapixel sensor, and 4X optical zoom range all bundled in a compact and rugged form factor, this camera proved to be a capable point-and-shoot with plenty of features for the beginner or novice. If you don't want to lug a beast around and want a stylish camera, the SD960 is a great option.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The 16:9 LCD on the Canon SD960 IS lets you frame your shots to match the format of HDTV and widescreen laptop displays, and it records excellent HD video. Unfortunately, its price and some image-quality issues prevent it from being a point-and-shoot superstar.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

My only concern with this minimalist approach is that to find out what the navigation pad options are only found out by pressing the pad and an icon appears on screen. This isn't very quick and you could accidentally activate a mode without wanting to. It's a shame because I do like it and see it as a positive design.

The Canon IXUS 110 IS would be, to be fair, one to mark down as 'just another' point and shoot digital compact if it weren't for gimmicky features like its active rear display (flipping images on playback and advancing frames with a cursory flick of your wrist) plus the rather more useful inclusion of HDMI out port (if no actual lead in the box) and 1280x720 widescreen movies.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

With a wide-angle screen and a significantly simplified set of controls, the Canon 960 IS takes slim pocketability to new levels. It's not that the Canon 960 is so slim front to back, but the widescreen LCD makes the camera so much shorter than most of the competition. The Canon PowerShot SD960 is a good performer in a lot of categories. Image quality is pretty good at wide-angle and telephoto, with strong blurring in only one corner of the frame at each setting, and mild blurring in the others.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Canon IXUS 110 IS is probably destined to be an extremely popular camera. It offers fantastic build quality, an up-to-the-minute range of features, great handling and performance, and image quality matching a camera that costs nearly half again as much. There are a few cheaper alternatives, but none that are better.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The SD960 continues on in its predecessor footsteps, offering the latest and greatest of Canon's legendary technologies, powerful features, speedy performance, excellent image quality, and loads of exposure options, all packed in a 'Go Anywhere' frame. With a street price of US$329 or less, the PowerShot SD960 IS may be a bit more expensive than a couple of its competitors, however with the quality and features you are receiving we fell its well worth the extra cost.

While its design is less than thrilling, the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS still has great photo quality to fall back on.
