Nikon COOLPIX AW110 Pro Reviews

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

This compact camera is tough and offers a lot for the adventurist - GPS, Wi-Fi, compass, altimeter, and waterproof to 60 feet deep - but if don't need all that, you might feel shortchanged by the lack of other photography features and manual controls.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a part of an already saturated market of tough cameras designed to be taken anywhere. These days, you have to do something better to get the attention of the roving consumer eyes. So Nikon seem to have gone to town on the AW110 and added all sorts of little gizmos to make it irresistible to the extreme traveller. For example, in the past, these extreme cameras would simply have waterproofing and shock-proofing. Now, we have wifi, GPS, improved depth of waterproofing, higher drop tolerance and on the AW110 an Altimeter to measure how high above sea level you are. Nikon have increased the durability of the AW110 making it go deeper and be dropped from higher. The design is still typical of most tough cameras with the thick plastic and while it will play it's part in keeping the precious internal workings safe, there's a few cameras out there that don't have it and we can't help think that it's a bit of show.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The rugged Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a modest update to its predecessor, the AW100. It can go deeper under water and adds Wi-Fi, but still suffers at high ISO settings.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

For anyone who wants a point-and-shoot to use in places where they just don't want to risk shooting with their smartphone, the Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a good choice.

DP Review‘s review Edit

The Coolpix AW110 is a capable rugged camera with good photo quality for its class, an elaborate GPS feature, Wi-Fi for remote camera control, and a nice movie mode - all without breaking the bank. It can also go further underwater than any of its peers. Downsides include smudged details, blue color casts underwater, poor outdoor display visibility, and below average battery life.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The AW100 was Nikon's first all-weather camera and the AW110 proves to be a steady upgrade, adding Wi-Fi to its wide set of features and almost doubling its waterproofness to 18m. Image quality is good and the images are less noisy than the AW100's at lower ISOs. Images are softer in the corners, but this is generally the case with cameras that have internal zoom lens. Overall, we are happy to recommend the Nikon Coolpix AW110.
