Samsung WB800F Pro Reviews

ephotozine‘s review Edit

If connectivity and a lot of optical zoom is important to you then you should seriously consider the Samsung WB800F with Wi-Fi, as it has one of the best implementations of Wi-Fi on any camera, making it extremely easy to share photos directly to Facebook and other social network sites. Although image quality is not the best in the class, for those that want it all, the Samsung WB800F is a good option, particularly for sharing to social network sites where the cameras colour performance is good, although a number of the competitors offer built in GPS or additional zoom. The price is extremely competitive, being cheaper than alternative travel zoom cameras, making the Samsung WB800F recommended.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The WB800F is a compact, well designed, sturdily built, and easy to use P&S digicam with a 21x zoom, but I'd like to offer a bit of advice to Samsung's product development folks - constantly crowding more pixels onto tiny P&S digicam sensors results in noticeably higher noise levels and the WB800F 16 megapixel sensor does produce marginally more noise than the SX280 HS's lower resolution 12 megapixel sensor. The differences are subtle, but they are visible. How about including a RAW mode and lowering the resolution to 12 megapixels on the WB800F's successor? The WB800F's strongest appeal will be to travel shooters, but this camera should also appeal to street shooters too. It's small, fast enough to capture the decisive moment, inconspicuous, and capable of generating reliably excellent digital images. Samsung cameras often provide better performance than their competition and that's the case with the WB800F. After carrying this nifty little digital camera with me just about everywhere I've gone for the last couple of weeks I have decided that if I were going on a trip, I could take only one camera, and my choices were limited to either the Canon SX280 HS (the top selling travel zoom in the USA) or the Samsung WB800F, I would choose the WB800F for its neutral color palette and better-than-average image quality.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Positioned as a cheaper alternative to the range-topping WB850F, the cheaper WB800F essentially removes the GPS of its big brother and swaps an AMOLED display for a touchscreen LCD. While we missed the GPS functionality, we actually preferred having the touchscreen, as it makes the camera quicker and easier to operate, especially for avid smartphone users. Samsung have wisely kept the physical controls too, so the WB800F should suit a wide range of abilities. While the Samsung WB800F more than matches its main rivals in terms of features and handling, image quality is not so hot. Although it produces good pictures in bright light, the results at the higher ISO settings aren't as good as some of the WB800F's competition, with noise already starting to become prevalent at ISO 800. This isn't a deal-breaker if you mostly shoot outside in the day, but more varied users should take note.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The Samsung WB800F does a good job of delivering the ease of touch screen navigation and Wi-Fi photo sharing without abandoning key photographic features. The powerful 21X zoom opens a lot of possibilities, and the inclusion of full manual mode and other adjustments will appeal to people who don't want to simply point and shoot. For casual shooters, attractive photo filters make it easy to get creative results. Though not all features are not top-notch, the WB800F offers a good number of features for the money. CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Samsung WB800F Smart Camera's image quality or performance likely won't blow anyone away. However, when you take into account what the camera is capable of doing, especially for its price, it's hard not to be impressed. If you're looking for something that's better than your smartphone's camera without sacrificing an easy shoot-and-share experience, the WB800F is the way to go.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Samsung WB800F packs a sharp 21x zoom lens and Wi-Fi, but some issues with image and video quality prevent it from getting top marks.
