VIZIO CT14-A4 Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Windows 8 update of the Vizio 14-inch Thin + Light CT14-A4 ultrabook brings an improved trackpad and Microsoft's new operating system, but a couple of familiar nits still keep the CT14-A4 from jumping to the top of our leaderboard

So is the CT14-A4 as a whole, although we could wish for a backlit keyboard and better battery life and really wish for an SD card slot. Priced competitively with 13.3-inch ultrabooks, it's a 14-inch, premium-screened model whose attractive aluminum construction offsets a shallow-even-by-ultrabook-standards keyboard. The only question for prospective Vizio customers is whether to wait for the touch-screen versions. At CES, the company announced the CT14T-B0 and CT14T-B1, which look outwardly like the CT14-A4 but will flaunt 10-point capacitive touch screens, along with AMD A10 and Intel Core i7 power, respectively.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The $849 Thin and Light is Vizio’s freshman effort in the Ultrabook category, and it’s clear that the company has been paying attention to what people want from these machines. However, the execution doesn’t quite live up to the ideal. You have a computer that looks good but feels uncomfortable, promises long battery life but doesn’t deliver, and runs an OS made for touch interaction with a clickpad that seems to dislike being touched. That’s too bad, because there are some positive aspects to the Thin and Light, and it’s the kind of Ultrabook you want to like when you see it. In the next generation, we hope that Vizio pays a little more attention to how the laptop feels.
