Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Looking back through the comparison, it’s clear that the Nokia Lumia 720 gets the upper hand. It’s got a vivid and larger 4.3-inch display, but it’s biggest advantages come in camera performance, battery life and call quality. Its unibody slim design is also extremely nice. What about the Lumia 620, though, should it be off your list? Not exactly. First, the device is a bit more affordable, and second it’s much more compact and friendly to single-handed use. It’s got an extremely bright and vivid display, and provides the same fluid Windows Phone 8 experience at a lower price. If you are ready to spend a little more though and would actually prefer a larger screen, the Lumia 720 is one step ahead.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Nokia Lumia 520 and the Lumia 620 are devices that are very similar yet differ in key areas. While both are affordable the Lumia 620 is nearly 50% more expensive and it comes as no surprise that it has the far superior display. That’s a hugely important advantage and the display on the Lumia just lacks brightness and vivacity. Yet the 520 brings a lot of little pleasant surprises. It captures decent image stills comparable with the 620, and actually beats it in terms of sound recording and call quality. If you have the extra money, you should go with the 620 for its better screen, but the 520 is a very close runner-up and both are great value for the money.

Engadget‘s review Edit

The Lumia 620 represents a new high-watermark for entry-level smartphones, regardless of OS. Ignoring the app drawbacks, the phone provides a great web browser experience alongside the full Windows Phone 8 feature set. It could be a very exciting phone for Nokia -- it's an exciting one for us. We've mentioned the price several times during the review, but for a new smartphone with the latest version of its respective OS, it's a steal. The phone might house a less-capable camera, but for anyone sick of oversized, unwieldy, expensive smartphones, Nokia now has an entry-level Windows Phone to lure the bargain-hunting crowds away from Android, if the Nexus 4 proves too expensive. What's more, it's arguably more attractive than most Google-powered phones around the same price point and could prove to be a huge hit among smartphone beginners. There's also a good chance that the more-gadget obsessed might pick up the Lumia 620 as a second device to give Microsoft's mobile OS a try -- and with compatibility on two US networks, it might be worth an import. It delivers real-world performance as good as Windows Phones that cost more than double. If anything, it's making us reconsider whether those other rivals are worth the extra outlay.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

The Nokia Lumia 620 shows us that a good Smartphone does not have to be expensive. The street price of 240 Euros is carried by a handy Smartphone with great workmanship, decent performance and impressive software. The LCD screen of the Lumia 620 should have had a higher resolution, which would save the user a lot of scrolling, but the total performance in a class comparison lies at an average level. In everyday use, the limitations are not distracting, and are compensated for by the great display, which has no peer in this price class. Nokia has installed Windows Phone 8 on the Nokia Lumia 620, and as can be seen, the result is good. The tab interface is fluid and easy-to-use. The user will have to live with a few Windows oddities: the on-screen keyboard does not use the entire width of the screen in landscape mode and App offering is meager at the moment in the Windows Store. However, sooner or later, the user will get used to the former and the latter will resolve itself.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Lumia 620 is finds itself in a pretty comfortable position right now. It's far from the hunting grounds of the WP8 powerhouses and yet it provides solid smartphone experience, a very decent screen and a design, which while not as sophisticated as that of the Lumia 820 and 920, has more youthful appeal than either of them. This might not be the most capable smartphone around, but it can do the basics just fine and it even has a couple of nice tricks up its sleeve. Since there are more casual users than aren't too many power users shopping in this price range, it might even be the most sensible Lumia of this generation. So let's get down to business - the enemies in plain view. The Lumia 620 costs around €250 right now and its main rival is the HTC Windows Phone 8S, which seems to match it perfectly in terms of hardware. Imaging is on par with two 5 MP snappers. There are two identical sets of chipsets to power both devices, and the HTC smartphone even offers a slightly bigger 4.0" S-LCD of the same WVGA resolution.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Reset your expectations of a smartphone. Stop thinking of it as an either/or decision Android or iOS; put yourself in the mindset of the everyman. We’ve praised Windows Phone before for its suitability to a new smartphone user, and the Lumia 620 fits that category well. The hardware is cheap but distinctive and easily customized; the software is fit for purpose – email, browsing, camera, and multimedia are served well, and while there are still missing apps, it’s questionable whether the target audience will notice their absence – and the price can’t be argued with. Still, we can’t help but think that the Lumia 620 is wasted on newbies. More than a few of the tech professionals we’ve spoken to in recent weeks – people who have their pick of the top-tier smartphones, and who probably have most of the must-haves sitting on their desk – have professed a degree of affection for the new baby Nokia. Yes, the diminutive size and carefree covers help, but it’s really more the singularity of purpose that draws you in.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

If you're looking for an affordable, unsubsidized smartphone that can do a lot for a little, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a good choice -- so long as you're well aware of the compromises in battery life, audio quality, and design that it takes to make an inexpensive smartphone. Camera and video quality are more than decent for what you get, the screen reads better than most outdoors, and the operating system gives you your smartphone basics. Did Nokia prove that it can create an entry-level smartphone worth buying? Yes. But if you have the wherewithal to upgrade to another model with more premium specs, do.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Lumia 620 is a great effort by Nokia all around. It has a standout design that will appeal to many, especially the young, a good (but not perfect) camera for its class supporting 720p HD video capture, and runs on the now more mature Windows Phone 8. We don’t have any major complaints about the phone and that alone is telling. However, as much as we like Nokia’s effort in the Lumia 620, it faces competition from some equally capable devices. Even in Nokia’s own Windows Phone backyard, HTC was the first to introduce the Windows Phone 8S, a very, very similar device at the same price of around $320 in the States, £220 in the UK and 270 euro in Europe that has a well-groomed and thinner body, but lacks a front-facing camera.
