Cisco Linksys EA6500 AC1750 Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

Cisco delivers far fewer features with the EA6500 than Asus does with its RT-AC66U. Both routers support UPnP and provide a DLNA-certified media server and an ftp server, for instance, but Asus also provides an iTunes server, a SAMBA server, an onboard download manager for automated BitTorrent downloads, and VPN pass-through for secure remote network access. And where Cisco provides a guest network on only its 2.4GHz band, Asus allows you to run guest networks on both frequencies simultaneously. With the possible exception of the iTunes server, however, most mainstream consumers won’t miss those advanced features and might favor the EA6500’s relative simplicity and ease of use.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Cisco has clearly spent a lot of time and effort on the EA6500's interface, and listened to customer feedback. It's full of excellent features and is great for setting QoS rules. Performance is outstanding on 5GHz in combination with both 802.11n- and 802.11ac clients, but on 2.4GHz a few other routers are faster. The EA6500 is an excellent 802.11ac router, but it isn't the cheapest. You can save money by buying a fast 802.11n router instead.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

So far this is the only 802.11ac router we'd think about recommending, but even so, unless you're convinced of the need to future-proof yourself we'd hold off at least until laptop and desktop adaptors have made an appearance. The standard isn't due to be officially signed off until 'late' 2013 and who knows if that will slip. At £199, this, like the Netgear R6300, is one of the most expensive of routers on the market, and if you can't fully use its features because there are no compatible devices out there - you know, just that minor problem - it's a really hard sell for the home buyer. But, almost across the board, this the fastest wireless router we've tested at all standards. Good work then Cisco!

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The cloud as management console with Cisco Connect Cloud raises the bar for router management and that capability coupled with fine performance makes the EA6500 a four star Editors' Choice for wireless routers.

Packed with every bell and whistle you could want on a router, the Cisco Linksys EA6500 Smart Wi-Fi Router might be too complicated for the average user. For those who need the speeds of Wireless-AC, the Linksys EA6500 does not disappoint.
