Acer Chromebook C710-2847 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

When it comes to Chromebooks, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Samsung was the only manufacturer of the petite Chrome OS-running laptops, but that isn’t the case. Acer has also been manufacturing Google’s Chrome OS laptops since 2011, but its first and only incarnation of the Chromebook, the AC700, was quickly overshadowed by Samsung’s Chromebooks.

The Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2847) isn't the slickest laptop out there, but it runs Chrome OS, has a roomy hard drive and a full selection of ports, and sells for a song. We'll overlook a lot for its $200 price tag.

Our only real disappointment with the C7's hardware concerns the life of its nonremovable battery. (At least, it was nonremovable by us. There's an icon on the system's underside about pressing a pen point or paper clip into a hole to release the power pack, but our best efforts couldn't get it out.) In our worst-case battery-rundown test, streaming TV shows from Hulu over Wi-Fi, the Acer conked out after only 2 hours and 40 minutes.
