ASUS ROG Maximus V Extreme Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The ASUS Maximus V Extreme is "the best" Z77 chipset motherboard we have ever used. "The best" is surely subjective and only achieved here depending on how you value the motherboard’s feature set. You can surely purchase a motherboard that you can get the same overclock out of, but if you value "masterpiece" computer hardware the Maximus V Extreme fits the bill when it comes to "the best." The Maximus V Extreme is a halo product and it wears it well. Along with the halo comes the halo price, but there is no doubt that we have reviewed motherboards that have retailed for twice the cost of the Maximus V Extreme and not delivered half the value.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

There can be no doubt that when it comes to overclocking, the ASUS Maximus V Extreme packs an incredible amount of features - more than any other similarly priced board. Making use of all these features does have its caveats, and taking full advantage of everything the board offers does require specific hardware, but you will not buy just any part when it comes to breaking records. It quickly becomes clear that this isn't your standard board. Sure, you can grab a bunch of parts off of the shelf, install them, and have a decent platform for whatever you need, but the same can be said of many more affordable boards on the market. What the ASUS Maximus V Extreme really offers, however, is far more than I had imagined, which really illustrates that there is good reasons behind ASUS being a huge player of the global tech market well. The fact that they consistently end up on top when it comes to extreme clocking records obviously stems from great experience.

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

The Maximus V Extreme is a rock solid board, and the benchmarks show that it can perform excellently. As far as its performance goes, there is no question as to its ability. However, a large part of the board is the user experience, which is rather qualitative. The board itself is built very sturdily, from the basics up: the PCB is very strong, and the components match. The feature set is also amazing. It is capable of running the gauntlet of overclocking and benchmarking, and it can also lend some extra performance to those looking towards this board for an extreme gaming build. Subzero Sense and VGA Hotwire both lend some amazing extreme benchmarking capabilities. The mSATA/Wifi/BT included Card all add to the package, and the capability to further expand the board’s abilities. Adding Thunderbolt expands to yet another ultra high speed interface.
