In terms of performance and output quality, we found a lot to like about this multifunction color laser. While it printed our test documents a little more slowly than some other competing models, the results were worth waiting a few extra seconds for. We also liked how well it copied and scanned our test documents and photos. That said, the CLX-6260FW truly excelled at only one of our three most important printer evaluation criteria: quality output. It fell short on our other two vital evaluation points, print speed and CPP. It’s slower than several models that cost hundreds of dollars less, and its CPPs, for both monochrome and color pages, are too high for a $1,000 laser. Considering how capable this multifunction color laser is, the cost of using it casts something of a pall over an otherwise very good printer. But a savvy shopper (or penurious office manager) might be able to make this printer a fair deal: We did find toner cartridges for it, at a few online vendors, discounted by as much as $20. At one site, we found the cartridges priced low enough to drop the monochrome CPP to about 1.9 cents and color pages to around 11 cents—not the best numbers we’ve seen for a high-volume laser, but not bad. If you don’t mind having to shop around for deals on toner, and you value quality output, we can’t think of any other reason not to buy the CLX-6260FW.

It's truly no fun to recommend against a multifunction that's so cleanly designed as the Samsung CLX-6260FW. But as nice as its speed, output and features are, the toner is just plain expensive.
