GALAXY GeForce GTX 660 Ti GC 2GB Pro Reviews

www.pcper.com‘s review Edit

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti is a great GPU, and as such we found all four of these retails cards to be worthy of purchases. If you already bought one and it's on the way you really don't need to worry about any kind of returns. You'll be happy with the performance. That being said, the Zotac AMP! Edition gets my nod as the best of the bunch with its higher GPU clock speeds, and overclocked memory speeds resulting in an out-of-box experience that is a little better than the rest. Both Galaxy and MSI GTX 660 Ti cards offer outstanding cooling with low noise levels, and should be overclockable to the same settings as the Zotac card if you are willing to do it manually. EVGA's $309 version just feels a bit lacking with the "stock" cooler, higher temps and low overclocked settings. Still, EVGA is known to have one of the best communities and support groups (and warranties) in the graphics card world, not to mention supporting the gaming world with Precision X.

Galaxy may not have with widespread recognition of the Gigabytes and ASUS’ of this world but they brought their a-game to the table with the GTX 660 Ti GC. This card may not provide ultra high clock speeds, nor does it have an impressive feature list like the DirectCu II TOP but it strikes a delicate balance between price and performance. Galaxy was careful not to intrude too far into the HD 7950’s market territory but they have still provided enough value to sway people away from AMD’s card.

Overall the Galaxy 660Ti was rather impressive. Usually with a release like this you always wonder exactly how it will compare to other manufacturer's cards, but luckily for us at OCC we’ve got three here on release day. The three honestly compare pretty well, considering the Galaxy starts out with the lowest core clocks it competes well in the stock clocked tests. Overclocking was much less a pain with the Xtreme Tuner Plus allowing for some pretty stellar performance once overclocked; however, I wasn’t able to push as hard as the ASUS and MSI cards, but it didn’t really seem to make that much a difference (a few FPS here and there). It is a good card overall; it competes fairly with the ASUS and MSI cards, but falls a little short for the same price – which pushes me away. This card definitely blows away the HD 7870 from AMD and puts up a fight with the HD 7950 as well, and for the near equivalent price (beyond the cheapest 7870s) the card has itself sold.
