HP ENVY Sleekbook 6z-1000 Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

The HP Envy Sleekbook 6z-1000 is a nice-looking entry-level laptop, and it costs only $600. The laptop's performance and processing speed may not be up to par, but HP's premium styling and components definitely make this laptop look lust-worthy. If you're not terribly concerned with having the fastest notebook on the market, the Sleekbook is worth a look.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The HP ENVY Sleekbook 6z is ultimately hard to recommend for a few reasons. The first of which is the abysmal keyboard: it has a poor, cheap feel and is not encouraging to use. Adding to the productivity problem is the low 1366x768 screen resolution; it suffices for basic tasks, but power users will be wishing for more space. On the upside the Sleekbook 6z has a great-looking design, decent speakers, a good selection of ports, and an excellent 7.5-hour battery life. Its low weight and thinness do little to hide the fact that it's a 15.6-inch notebook though, so the portability is still limited. At $599 the price is a little rich, but if you make the mistake of configuring it yourself and pay $650, the Sleekbook 6z isn't a great value by any means. For that price I am more inclined to go with one of HP's 15.6-inch Pavilion notebooks; they offer a better keyboard and better screen options plus user upgradeability. The only downside is a little extra weight and thickness.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Although the HP Envy Sleekbook 6z-1000 comes in an attractive package, its shortcomings make it a laptop we cannot really recommend. It has a low-resolution, low-quality screen. It proved slow on both our benchmark tests and on some day-to-day tasks. The HP Envy Sleekbook 6-1010us version of the system comes with a larger 500GB hard drive, but shares its twin's disappointing performance and screen. Both systems are compact and have a nice price, but virtually any Intel-powered ultrabook is worth the extra $100-$200 dollars. The HP Folio 13-1020us remains a great ultrabook choice. Alternately, you can go for a traditional laptop like the Sony VAIO E15 or the sub-$800 Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5-481TG-6814, both of which perform better on day-to-day tasks. If you want a really low-price system, check out the Acer Aspire 5349-2635 at Wal-Mart. Even made out of plastic, it's a better choice for a lot less money.
