Epson Expression Home XP-400 Pro Reviews

printercomparison‘s review Edit

I definitely think Epson is moving in the right direction when it comes to their small-in-one lineup. The Expression Home XP-400 is an improvement over the Stylus NX430 in many ways: document print speeds, photo quality and ease of use while keeping the price at $99.99. However, when it comes to the ink needed to run the Expression Home XP-400, I can't make the same assertion. The standard capacity 200 cartridges performed worse during our tests and cost nearly the same as their 124 counterparts (for a set of four). But the high capacity 200XL cartridges cost (for a set of four) cost nearly $20 more than their 126 counterparts. There are no page yield numbers on the site or on the individual boxes to compare either. Moral of the story? The Epson Expression Home XP-400 is a great little printer that does what is expected of it: print, scan and copy at a decent clip and produce quality text documents and images. It would make a fine addition to a home or dorm room looking for a decent priced, compact AIO. But don't be surprised if you spend quadruple the initial cost ($99.99) on ink in the first year.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Epson Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One is a typical budget home multifunction printer but for one thing: it can fit in spaces that other MFPs can't.
