ASUS Vulcan PRO Pro Reviews

As it stands, the Vulcan Pro is a wonderful headset as it's very comfortable and sounds great. The simplicity and convenience of the Spitfire soundcard is something to be admired in these days of needlessly complex audio software, but equally the benefits it provides over the cheaper Vulcan are tangible at best. We always prefer good stereo sound to virtual surround sound, and the FPS and Amp functions amount to little more than EQ tweaks that do little to improve upon the already excellent sound. There's little wrong with the Vulcan Pro, it's just not worth the extra money over the Vulcan.

The ASUS ROG Vulcan Pro headset is a well-equipped headset in terms of features. It does, however, seem to miss some points. For one, the ANC and its sound quality are not good enough to warrant the price. The CM Storm Sonuz will give you similar sound quality at roughly half the price. Of course, the Vulcan Pro includes a semi-effective ANC system and a USB sound card, but the USB sound card is just dead weight if you don't plan on using it. The ANC system does have its advantages in some scenarios as it proved effective at dampening midrange noise; however, it does raise the noise floor considerably while doing so, which goes against the point of having it in the first place.The Vulcan Pro's strong point is its bass, which is huge, so if you are a bass lover, this headset might bring enough rumble to satisfy you. The bass is very dominant, which definitely enhances the fun factor while gaming, but an EQ bass drop by a few dB would net you better spatial awareness for serious FPS gaming. Its build quality does, of course, match its price-tier, which is great. The ASUS ROG Vulcan Pro has a lot of general things going for it, but it misses out on some key-performance aspects, which is a shame.
