A quick, smart photo printer, but it's expensive and our results weren't perfect

Canon's latest ultra-compact thermal dye photo printer has a welcome upgrade of Wi-Fi over its predecessor alongside good quality images, simple controls and flash drive/SD card instant processing.

Is the Canon Selphy CP900 worth buying? It all comes down to how you plan to use it. If you want a small 4x6-inch photo printer that doesn’t need AC power, it’s a no-brainer. The CP900 could be an ideal companion for camping or other outdoorsy trips, especially if you have a wireless-compatible camera, phone, or tablet. Just be mindful that every three prints will cost you about a dollar. Even with AC power, it could be an excellent choice. Got a weeklong vacation coming up? Throw the CP900, the adapter, and extra ink/paper sets into your suitcase, and you’re ready to hand out photos, just minutes after they’re shot. If all you want to do is print photos on your desk at home or in the office, though, this model isn't a cost-efficient pick. You would be better off buying an inexpensive inkjet printer. Your printed photos would cost less, possibly last longer, and even look a little better. And you would have the option of printing onto 8.5x11-inch photo paper. But if you're looking to take your printer with you, snapshot printing on the go doesn't get much better than this.

Canon's latest thermal dye dedicated photo printer, the Selphy CP900, adds Wi-Fi as a connection option, but leaves out Wi-Fi Direct, which would make the Wi-Fi far more useful.
