Cooler Master Storm Trigger Pro Reviews

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

In conclusion, I really liked this keyboard. I loved it the first time I reviewed it, besides the red LEDs, and I think I love it even a little more with the green switches. Although the greens were a little different to get used to compared to the other switches I've used in the past, I do think they are my new favorite switch type. They are a little more aggressive and if we break down the different feels I think you'll understand it a bit more. First off, the green switch is a tactile switch, meaning it actually has a tactile bump down through the key press, which in turn is actually both felt and audible to the user. The greens also have a high actuation force of 80g compared to the browns at 55 and the blues at 60. Compared to the browns, they are by far a lot heavier and clickier. The greens are much stronger and not so gentle. Compared to blues, the greens are actually seemingly quieter. Perhaps it is the actual key cap in this case being quieter, but the actual spring itself seems a lot quieter as well – it isn't quite the annoying type, type, type, sound that I got from blues. Reds and blacks are hard to compare fairly here as they both are linear switches; they don't have the bump click and are entirely different on their own. Overall I really like the new green switches. The CM Storm Trigger is still the beast of a keyboard it was, but I'd highly recommend the change in switches . The greens aren't for everyone, but if you like a really aggressive feel to both your typing and gaming, this is the keyboard for you.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

The CM Storm Trigger is a good keyboard, albeit some of the dispositions are a bit odd for a thoroughbred gaming keyboard. The lighting system with multiple modes is nice for gamers playing at home in the dark or at LAN parties. The fact that you can adjust both intensity and pattern separately is a nice touch. With the macro functionality and dedicated keys this keyboard seems ideal for MMORPG gamers looking for a mechanical keyboard. Add the fact that the macro functionality is handled inside the keyboard and you might have a killer setup for RPG games where every extra APM counts. Being able to save profiles on the keyboard becomes useful if you plan on using it on two different installations or PCs. The keyboard's core performance is a bit held back by the implementation of USB since it only allows for six key roll-over, however, this is probably enough for most gamers out there.

Fudzilla‘s review Edit

The CM Storm Trigger is certainly a keyboard that can easily impress you with its build quality, set of features and a flare of enjoyment that only a mechanical keyboard can offer. With these in mind, we can easily recommend it without losing a night of sleep over it.

hardwarecanucks‘s review Edit

The Storm Trigger is a functional, albeit quirky peripheral that may look oversized and oddly configured and yet ultimately provides a great gaming experience. Granted, there are higher end keyboards out there and even less expensive ones that seem to offer similar features but very few offer the combination of price and performance that Cooler Master has on tap. One of the distinguishing factors of the Trigger is its ability to improve upon the features normally associated with generic gaming keyboards and attach them to a product that boasts enthusiast-oriented key switches. Multi zone illumination, USB ports and Macro buttons are all included next to those oh-so-sweet Cherry Browns. While you won’t have to give up any features by switching to a mechanical design like this, such a keyboard takes some getting used to. This is a rather small annoyance, and you will quickly be back to your old speed—or better—as the Cherry Browns have a silent, built-in feedback mechanism that gradually trains the user to apply just enough force for the required throw distance.
