ASUS HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2 Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The ASUS Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II is available on Amazon for $239.99 with a rebate that can take you down to $219.99. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Tis can be found in etail for $249.99 before rebates. Other stock Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition based cards can be found in etail starting as low as $249.99 before rebates, which means the ASUS offering is at a great value right now considering it has a custom premium PCB design and DirectCU II branded cooling solution. For the most part, the two cards are equals when it comes to the game play experience that is offered in five out of the six games within this evaluation. Even though the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti turns in higher FPS numbers most of the time, that performance advantage doesn't really translate to a better experience for the gamer because there isn't enough performance to push the settings to the next highest level. Both cards have room to overclock and both will improve upon the gaming experience when they are turned up to 11. If you are in the market for a Radeon HD 7870 video card, the ASUS Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II Version 2 performs well and overclocks well. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti provides faster framerates, but since the ASUS Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II V2 is cheaper, it makes it the better value overall at this price. The ASUS Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II V2 has earned its place in ASUS’ DirectCU II line of video cards, and at its current pricing also delivers a value compared to the competition.
