I will credit Sony with at least trying to separate the Vaio L-Series from the glut of large screen all-in-ones. I just wish the X-Reality video chip and the gesture recognition provided more meaningful benefits. Because they don't, this system does not have enough capability to justify its price tag next to its competition.

It's a very good media consumption computer, but there may be better choices out there if you are a photographer/videographer/musician.

It’s true that you can get better performance or a larger screen for your money, but if you are buying an all-in-one that will be used as a TV as much as it will be used as a PC, you’ll quickly come to appreciate the $1,399 Sony VAIO L Series and its unique Bravia menu system. Being able to quickly access the TV side of things without first needing to boot Windows is a much-preferred way of doing things, rather than needing to jump through the hoops to get to Windows Media Center. Sony's sterling background as a TV maker definitely pays dividends in this all-in-one, however, in ways that other system sellers just can't touch. The Bravia engine behind the display results in an awesome 1080p image, and the screen itself has impressively wide side-to-side viewing angles if you plan on watching movies on it in the company of others. And you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the sound of the three-piece speakers. Furthering the system’s versatility is its bountiful loadout of connectivity and ports, and its genuinely useful software bundle, far better than the explosion of trials and bloatware we so often see on consumer PCs.
