Corsair Vengeance 2000 Pro Reviews

gadgetreview‘s review Edit

The Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless gaming headset is a great buy for the stellar 7.1 performance choice or receiving options and competitive price. The surround sound multichannel performance envelops users in a way that makes Astro Gaming and Creative seem asleep at the wheel. Astro Gaming’s A50 wireless offer deeper more pronounced lows and Creative dumps a ton of features on you. Both these competing solutions do optical-in, which is great. But the Vengeance 2000 hold their own admirably for nearly $200 less than the highest priced competitor. Succinctly… Highly recommended!

With the previous Vengeance headset models, a consumer’s choice ultimately came down to virtual surround sound (the USB-based Vengeance 1500) or premium stereo sound (the Vengeance 1300). Indeed, both options offered reasonable comfort and sensible style at prices that were in line with the competition. Instead of variations on this theme, the new Vengeance 2000 offers something the previous models could not: outstanding freedom of movement. In this area, the Vengeance 2000 headset is a smashing success. Thanks to its long-range wireless abilities one can wander—to a limited extent—from room to room while still enjoying their favorite music. Unfortunately, going hand-in-hand with this increased freedom of movement is the problem of decreased sound clarity. Although the difference in latency between the Vengeance 2000 and 1500 is minor enough to not be all but indistinguishable, the decrease in sound quality is apparent when listening to high quality music and even when playing some games. Despite the fact that the sound quality discrepancy between these three Corsair products is not all that drastic, the Vengeance 2000 simply could not afford to lose any sound quality if it wanted to persuade buyers away from the lower priced but highly capable Vengeance 1500.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Gaming PCs can sometimes become so entangled with the connecting wires of peripherals that it seems only a matter of time until they conspire to constrict you in an inescapable death-grip. A wireless headset like the Corsair Vengeance 2000 is therefore always welcome. At £115, it enters a market populated by a few star performers, like Creative's Sound Blaster Tactic3D Wrath, and a few that are just okay, such as Sony's DR-GA200. The Vengeance 2000 separates itself from the pack with an easy setup, comfortable design and the trademark Corsair build quality that runs through every product so consistently, it's frankly getting boring.

Overall, it looks as though Corsair have taken a decent recipe for making a competitive headset and added wireless support which has got to be a hit amongst a plethora of wired options available at the moment. The Corsair Vengeance 2000 is really quite an impressive unit indeed, built from quality materials and extending on a proven design formula. This headset was a breeze to install and provided there is access to an internet connection, the driver download will also be.

The Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming headset performs very well in all scenarios apart from voice comms where the surround sound effect just sounds like an empty room. The bass is fantastic without overpowering the mid range and high frequencies and you get a very good sound experience. Battery life is good and on average I found the Vengeance headset would get 8~9 hours of intermittent usage between two days before needing a charge. I was expecting to be disappointed by the maximum volume level but I could not have wanted for more. I would even say that it was just at the right level, it was loud but not deafening so there would be no issues if I were to accidentally set the volume too high. Corsair state that the Vengeance 2000 will operate up to 40ft away but in the real world it more like 25 feet before the signal starts dropping.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

Overall, I'm very impressed with the Corsair Vengeance 2000 gaming headset. True to the Corsair name, they are solidly built, well thought out, and sound incredible. The fact that they are wireless only adds to the ability to enjoy them, since you will no longer have to miss out on in-game chat or movie dialog as you leave your computer to refill on gaming/movie refreshments. Although they are not intended to be used solely for listening to music, I cannot imagine anyone to be disappointed by the sound quality unless you have golden ears and are incredibly picky about your headphones. The compensation circuits to avoid distortion are never overbearing (or even noticeable for that matter) and if you want even more volume, you can always plug them in while listening. When plugged in, they take the maximum volume level and pump it up a notch…they will literally shake your head on deep bass notes.
