EVGA GeForce GTX 670 Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

Nvidia's latest GPU equals the performance of its high-end predecessor, the GTX 580, with a less rarified price. It's almost as quiet and power-efficient as a GTX 680, too.

NVIDIA’s GTX 670 is currently the GPU to beat from a price / performance standpoint and EVGA has done their best to improve upon the reference design by adding their own unique touches. The GTX 670 Superclocked is an excellent card that sets itself apart from the competition in a number of ways. Let’s start with the obvious first: the Superclock’s performance isn’t that much better than a stock clocked GTX 670. While EVGA does deserve some credit for giving the memory some massaging, the clock speeds here just aren’t enough to result in a noticeable in-game performance advantage. On paper and within pretty charts things look good but will you notice a few frames per second difference while fragging your enemies? Absolutely not, nor will the clock speeds allow the Superclocked edition to return playable framerates in situations where the GTX 670 struggled.

The performance of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB and the EVGA GeForce GTX 670 SC 2GB are impressive at there default clock speeds and even more so when overclocked. For example the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 reference cards comes at 915MHz on the GPU base clock and can Boost up to 980MHz. The EVGA GeForce GTX 670 SC that we got is factory overclocked to 967MHz on the base clock and can boost up to 1046MHz. Thanks to the EVGA Precision X overclocking utility we were able to increase the base clock up to 1097MHz (1176MHz Boost) for a healthy overclock! We increased the power target +122%, so in games we were able to hit 1280MHz on the core and that gave us some insane performance numbers. We are talking about over 10,000 points in 3DMark11 here and performance that rivals the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 and AMD Radeon HD 6990 dual-GPU monsters that were the fastest cards in the world back in 2011!

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

The performance advantage of the new GeForce GTX 670 over the Radeon HD 7950 can be impressive. Depending on the game and resolution used, the GeForce GTX 670 can be up to 41% faster than its main competitor. However, the new video card achieved the same performance level as the Radeon HD 7950 on some games (Aliens vs. Predator, StarCraft II, and Deus Ex at 2560x1600). Since the Radeon HD 7950 wasn’t faster than the GeForce GTX 670 in any game, and they both cost the same, the new GeForce GTX 670 is, today, your best choice if you have USD 400 to spend on a video card. The SuperClocked model from EVGA was up to 9% faster than the stock GeForce GTX 670 in our tests. Since it costs 5% more than the standard GeForce GTX 570, the price is right if you want to spend a little more and get a few extra frames per second on your favorite game. For processing “regular” programs, however, the Radeon HD 7950 is faster. Using Media Espresso, the Radeon HD 7950 was 9% faster than the standard GeForce GTX 670, with the difference dropping to 3% on the EVGA GeForce GTX 670 SuperClocked

Fudzilla‘s review Edit

EVGA was right on time for the GTX 670 launch with its Superclocked card, which comes overclocked to 967MHz and its memory at 1552MHz (6208MHz effectively). Note that the reference clocks are 915/1502MHz GPU/memory. Higher clocks of course mean better performance but overclocked or not – the GTX 670 is a great bang for the buck. Furthermore, the card allows for using up to four displays simultaneously. Suggested pricing for the reference design is €329 EX VAT or $399 USD. In return, you get a graphics card that will support your 2560x1600 habit. Compared to the GTX 570, you can expect about 40 percent better performance. The GTX 470 is 1.5-2 times slower than the GTX 670. It’s not looking rosy for AMD as the GTX 670 manages to challenge even the HD 7970 occasionally.
