expertreviews‘s review Edit

Although it's a useful home printer and scanner, this MFP produces some of the worst photos we've seen

A nice touchscreen interface and a delicious price tag helps make the HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One a contender, and its low running costs won't hurt either. Its performance is solid rather than stunning though.

The HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One is a good option for families offering competitive features for its class with the focus on creative projects, quick print speeds and ease of use. I've said this before and I'll probably say it again, but I really love the web savvy of HP print products. My least favorite thing about the Photosmart 5520 is definitely the lack of photo software. This boggles my mind because HP has set trends in the inkjet market for their creative ideas and features. HP Photo Creations is great secondary software for customers who want to make picture books, mugs or other projects. But I want photo software that allows these same customers to easily print photos from the brand new printer they just purchased. The Photosmart 5520 is an inkjet printer, so you'll still find me rating ink costs as a slight negative, but $50 for four high capacity individual ink cartridges is actually very competitive (although certainly not cheap)

This low-cost multifunction printer offers the duplexing and layout options that its predecessor lacked, making it a better buy for low-volume use. Its touchpad makes it more stylish, too.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One is aimed primarily at home use, but offers some sophisticated features, like printing through the cloud, that are anything but basic.
