Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance II Pro Reviews

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

The CM Storm Sentinel Advance II is a good mouse. It does have a few quirks regarding the scroll wheel and the sensor, however, it can still compete with the other serious high end gaming mice on the market. Its shape is superb for people with slightly large hands and it can definitely give the Mionix Naos a run for its money ergonomics wise. We absolutely adore the button mechanisms used and the comfortable shape of the mouse, you can play for days without getting wrist ackes. The build quality is sturdy and there are no oddities except for the scroll wheel. Of course the mouse is more complex than your regular Logitech mouse due to the OLED screen and the LEDs, but considering the life-span and ruggedness of both those technologies I think it is safe to say that it will last a very long time.

The Sentinel Advance II enhanced what was already an excellent mouse to begin with three years ago. Because it’s a huge peripheral, it’s not suited for players with tiny hands or those who prefer lighter and more agile gaming mice. The Sentinel Advance II compensates for its bulkiness with high sensitivity, but in practice, we doubt someone will exceed 5,000 or 6,000 dpi when playing. The body is comfortable and provides a firm grip. Despite the overcrowded interface, the application does its work without much fuss. The virtual buttons added by the TX feature were an intelligent solution to not overpopulate the body of an earlier model with unreachable buttons. The dents on the scroll wheel make it very precise.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

As I mentioned, the look and feel of the Sentinel Advance Ii is just like the original and it's as if I went right back to the enjoyable hours of gaming I had with that mouse. The upgraded sensor is nice and I actually found myself using the 8200 DPI at desktop level quite a bit, but there is no way I could be accurate in an FPS at that high of a setting. I still found myself gaming at around 3200-3600 DPI only dropping DPI occasionally if I had a rifle or was driving or flying. I don't remember the original version having the script or macro capabilities and I know it did not include the TX button that allows multi-functionality of all but one button on the mouse. This combined with a sleek and sexy, aesthetically appealing design and the cool lighting and slightly programmable OLED screen again I don't see how you can go wrong with the Sentinel Advance II.

The CM Storm Sentinel Advance II looks awesome in my opinion. The LEDs on top and under the buttons and the ergonomic styling looks really nice. The fact that you can change the color scheme to something that fits your style, or even your mood, is an added bonus. The box isn't too flashy, but it stands out and touts the features of the mouse. Overall, I'd rate the appearance pretty highly. CM Storm improved some things with the Sentinel Advance II, including increasing the DPI settings, but they left a lot the same. That includes the tough durability and high-end construction of the Sentinel Advance. As a driverless mouse, you can take the Sentinel Advance II with you wherever you go. The Sentinel Advance II is also protected by nylon on top of plastic, meaning that it is less likely to wrinkle, kink, bend, or tear, and a drop or a fall won't hurt it much.
