Canon PIXMA MX892 Pro Reviews

printercomparison‘s review Edit

The Canon Pixma MX892 is a very capable all-in-one inkjet. All four main devices offered - print, scan, copy and fax - worked well, the text and photo quality were quite good and it features automatic duplexing, a 35-sheet ADF, front side USB with memory card reader, decent print speeds and wireless connectivity with plenty of mobile printing options. There were some minor performance issues such as the ridiculously arduous Google Cloud Print setup and the lengthy color print pauses, but for the most part, you’ll find the Pixma MX892 to be a reliable and easy to use device. And I think Canon made a smart decision marketing the Pixma MX892 as a “home office” printer because in my opinion, that’s the perfect environment for the mix of features and usability the Pixma MX892 provides. The only real deal breaker is the (rising) cost of replacement ink cartridges. At $67.98 for a set of standard capacity cartridges, depending on your print volume, you could quickly surpass the initial cost ($199.99). The bottom line? The Canon PIXMA MX892 Wireless Office All-in-One is a great fit for a professional working from home or a family in need of fax functionality with an average print volume. If you are printing more than 400 pages a month, you may want to consider a printer that offers a high capacity cartridge option.

computershopper‘s review Edit

While somewhat slower than most of its competitors, the Pixma MX892 is a capable business-centric AIO. It produced good output and reproduction quality in most of our tests, except when copying images containing people. Several business-ready machines suffer from this same shortcoming, but, then again, several do not. Unfortunately, as we said in the intro, Canon has not kept up with several competitors in terms of print speeds and cost per page. That's our primary concern with this AIO. It holds up well in terms of output quality and features, but not, when compared to some other recent under-$200 models, in terms of speed and operational costs. We can't recommend this model to businesses that need a high-volume workhorse.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The Canon Pixma MX892’s automatic-duplex printing and scanning are great, as are its sturdy construction, output, and speed. It would nicely serve one or two people who print at a light to moderate volume. Nevertheless, like-priced competitors from Epson and HP offer similar or better features for roughly the same price, with the option to buy high-yield inks.
