I enjoyed using the Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One. HP has continued to improve the ISO print speeds, photo quality and added features I missed on past models all while bringing the initial price down to $169.99. I still have my doubts that the Officejet 6700 Premium (or any office inkjet) is going to be a true laser replacement when it comes to color printing in terms of cost and quality but I do believe that the Officejet 6700 Premium could be an excellent addition to a home office or be shared among a small work group (think 3-5 people) in a professional setting with light printing needs. I don’t understand what’s going on with the lack of photo software on HP’s latest lineup of inkjets but in the Officejet 6700 Premium’s case, it’s not really a big issue. I also noticed the fine lines in a few of the 4x6 test photo prints, which again, may not be a deal breaker to customers interested in an office printer.

When it comes to performance and output quality, the OfficeJet 6700 Premium lives up to its name. It's also well-built and quiet, further justifying its "Premium" designation. In fact, its low price is the only thing that isn't premium about this model. We feel confident in saying that this OfficeJet would serve most small and home businesses well, and it would do so for quite some time. The question is, though: At what cost over the long haul? Offices that use their printer often (and even those that don't) will continue to pay a premium price in terms of cost per page. This, perhaps, wouldn't be an issue if there weren't other AIOs available that printed as well as this one, and delivered a lower per-page cost of consumables. (If you look over our reviews of machines in this price range, you'll find several.) Then too, if you print and make a lot of copies, at some point it becomes more economical to spend more up front for a printer with lower daily usage costs.

Macworld‘s review Edit

Though the HP Officejet 6700 Premium falls a bit short in scanning capabilities and ink costs, it’s otherwise a capable midpriced inkjet MFP. A similarly priced competitor, the Brother MFC-J825DW (3mice), offers CD/DVD printing and a two-year warranty (compared to the HP’s one), but it also has a lower paper capacity and some higher ink prices.
